Sherine Aboelezz

College Writing Specialist; Former Instructional/Literacy Coach and Teacher

With over 12 years of teaching experience in high school English classrooms, both in the U.S. and abroad, Sherine dedicates much of her time to promoting, creating, and incorporating project-based, authentic assessments. She earned her M.A. in the teaching of English from Columbia University and is certified in the Lucy Calkins Writing Workshop. Her love and passion for the power of nonfiction led her to teach AP English Language and Composition for two years and expository writing at Rutgers University. She is presently a member of the NESA International Literacy Coaching Cohort.

Sherine currently works as a writing specialist at Georgetown University in Qatar.聽She has presented and led many workshops and initiatives on Common Core standards-based grading, rubrics, and assessments. She loves working with teachers and strives to help them discover their authentic teaching style. As a blueprint, she uses Jim Knight鈥檚 鈥淭he Impact Cycle鈥 to coach them on implementing evidence-based teaching practices in聽their classrooms. Ultimately, her goal is to enhance student engagement through teacher empowerment.
